Jeff Babb
Has anyone used a Presonus Blue Tube as part of a dialogue recording setup? A friend mentioned it makes a vocalist (i.e. singer) sound warmer but I wonder how it would color dialogue. Would it give a desirable result or would it be too much. Just wonderin' Jeff

Just wonderin' Jeff It may work wonders but that type of "magic" is best left to the post people where they have the opportunity to hit the "UNDO" button. old school
Hey Jeff, I have some Presonus stuff in my home studio and I like it for music recording at their very reasonable price points. For what we do though I would leave eq ing or sound tweaking to the pros in post. A great mixer and mic is all we need IMO. Now their Studio Live 16.4.2 might be interesting for our line of work. Waiting to test it one of these days. CrewC
Jeff Babb
There was a debate on another thread about the question of whether "To EQ or Not EQ." I imaging using a tube pre amp would qualify as EQ. Hey CrewC, I looked up the Studio Live on Sweetwater. It looks pretty impressive especially if you're into EQing. I like all the routing. A 4pin 12vdc version would be even more impressive. (Watch the video. I think they decided to use the camera mic instead of the lav.) old school
Hey Jeff, I saw all the videos on the blog site about that mixer. The capture software looks good as well as all the eq ing and efx and routing. Also you can slave 2 together for 32. BTW, I love EQing, shaping, and tweaking sound in my music creation station, but like Phillip pointed out, we have undo options after we make the original recording.
