DIY Mods to the Olympia Folding Cart

Recommended Posts

I wrote an ultra long blog post that includes multiple tutorials on different mods and upgrades you can do to the folding Olympia Tools Service Cart. I’ve done a few of these on my cart and I’ve included some mods that others have also done.

This is a wheel idea that I have been thinking about doing in my Olympia cart. However, it would need to be able to pull out the folding cart part of it in order to still have a way to put in a small vehicle.

I love it. Its like a sled you guys created for the folding cart to drop into. Even though it’s now a 2 piece cart its still rather small to fit into even a 4 door car. What else have you guys done to it?

I can't take credit for this by the way. This is not something I did. I can't remember who these guys are.

Resurrecting an older thread here - I have one of these carts and I'd like to replace the stock casters.  How do you get them off?  They look like they ought to just thread off but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

[edit] and of course 30 seconds after posting for help I figured it out.  They're held in place by the bolts attached to the shelves.

So how do you take the plastic wheel assembly apart to put it on the new wheels? It seems to be one solid piece.

On an XL cart it is easy to remove the wheel assembly. Once out, they just pry open.

Unfortunately, the XL carts use snap ring mounts. The original cart uses M10 stems.

i designed and 3D printed M10 assemblies to use threaded casters.

I am not a 3D printing expert, but it works great printed on my Ender 3 S1. Others have used my file and the wheels don’t fit tightly.

Some have just used epoxy in the existing assembly to keep their new casters tight.
