Buying a used Schoeps Colette?

Hi,

still evaluating which mic's to start with.

I'm a filmmaker and producer of documentaries and corporate stuff.

I also work as a cameraman/DP for other productions, but was responsible for the sound for several feature documentaries, too.

I love being able to capture the atmosphere of places out in the wild and more so in the cities.

I have some standard doco stuff, but want to upgrade to better mic's and a recorder later on.

I have a AT875R on camera, which I think is surprisingly good for the price and size.

Then I have a Sennheiser ME64/66 that is used on a boom and a AT BP4029 M/S mic for athmo.

I also have a Sennheiser G3 wireless combo with MKE2 gold lav.

My own recorder is just a Zoom H6.

That stuff is fine for corporate stuff.

Quite often I can get a good friends stuff consisting of a SD702 and a Schoeps CMC/CCM combo with MK4, MK41 and MK8.

Very nice stuff!

I like to come as close to that sound, especially that natural sounding voices, rooms and athmos. Clear, crisp, warm and nice.

Especially in an M/S combo these little guys csn shine.

I two other threads, I asked for experience with mic's from Kortwich. Very reasonable, small good sounding fugure 8 and a cardioid.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat, but there's hardly any experience from pro's. Another issue is the lack of a super cardioid.

I'll try to use the small Kortwich combo on camera, too, if there's no soundguy.

But I think it's a good idea to get a super cardioid for tighter shots as well.

To cut a long story short, I thought of a Gefell M310, AT4053 or AKG C480/CK63-ULS which would fall into my budget.

I'd like the Schoeps more but it's just to much for me. But what if I can get a used CMC6/MK41 for under 1000€?

Is it a good idea to buy used or can they be kinda worn?

What's a good price for the combo?

They are quite hard to find on the used market...

This btw is one I just purchased myself, it should be arriving soon.

For now I'm using  AKG's Blueline series hypercardioid

I was a lucky duck who was able to pick up this mic for about 800 USD, and only because I responded within a minute of it going up for sale. It's about a decade old and looks like it, but hey, we don't buy mics for how they look now do we?
