Studio Sound Magazine Sept 1984 Issue

Long ago and far way there were no internets to learn from.

We had magazines, Recording Engineer/Producer, Mix,  and  Studio Sound. 

 

I was rooting around and found this Studio Sound article about LSI Recording in Nashville, the studio I spent years and a marriage working in.

I've been trying to post it here but my files were too large.  I mentioned this on Jan's Sounderday this morning and John B. found the issue online.

MCI JH-24.  We still have ours here.  My time here began during its last days of regular use but we still need it to play stuff from the archives from time to time.  Just last week I used it to transfer a 16 track orchestral film score.

Took me a while to get past page 2 Al, let alone 38. My studio bought Gerry Rafferty's Soundcraft 200 Producer Series (which I guess he bought off the back of Baker Street and the album after 1980). Cheers! Jez

Al I remember you when you did the Gary Stewart sessions in 1983-1984-85 for Roy Dea and I on our Red Ash label. I’m working with Studio 79 to cut the laquer.  As you know the original masters were lost when the studio sold. I would love for you to get involved with the clean up and transfer of the 9 songs  that I have 6 in 45s and 3 on LSI casssette. I want to release them in analogue in 180g vinyl. Also do you recall a session with The whites and maybe another doing a Vince Gill song while he was out of contract and Gary tried it but Gary told me he couldn’t get the feel if it and asked to ask Roy to can it?
