Veit Norek
Hi Group, we recently sent a COS-11 for repair to Kortwich. Since the mic was damaged right below the capsule, their trick is to fix it with DPA cable. They said they had great results with that. Today we got it back and obviously it is still broken. Can you maybe tell me from the attached sound file, what the problem might be? Thanks in advance Veit FEHLERT01_3.WAV
JonG
Aside from Sanken, the only people that can repair a cos-11 are Wilcox Sound.

Philip Perkins
When I get a break in a lav mic cable anywhere near the capsule I call it a loss and try to charge somebody for it. Generally they aren't repairable in any permanent or like new sense.
JonG
34 minutes ago, afewmoreyears said: Dont know if he was replaced He was. The reason why they are the only people who can work on them is because Sanken sent them a machine that can’t open the capsules and they are the only people that have one. So despite who is working there, the machine is what allows for the repair.

hiro nakamura
Too risky to use the repaired ones, I have mine repaired once, they replaced the old cable to a Shure mic cable. In general, it sounds fine... but later on, it goes on and on with lots of problems, little noise like the cable with he capsule, or even RF antennas etc. best to get a new one or even a used one. Don’t repair it.

Yes that was right until 2017. If you are located outside of U.S.A (in Europe for example) we can do this repairing for you. We have customers from U.K, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Bulgaria etc. since 2017. We have Facebook & Instagram pages where you can see many samples of capsule repairing and cable renewing. https://www.facebook.com/cos11repair/ https://www.instagram.com/cos11_repair or you can send e-mail to: c_alingan@msn.com Cihan A little advice to all cos11 users: When you're buying a new cos11, pay little much and buy 3mt. cable length option. (it will be approx. 3.25mt) Cut the cable to 2 equal pieces (1.62mt. each) before using it and resolder the connector. You can keep second part cable for renewing in future (if you want to replace old sticky cable with original one) Cheers
