12V to USB C Power for Macbooks ( 2017,18, 19) Power Delivery negotiation protocol

I soldered a 45W car charger to 4 pin XLR and tried charging my macbook.  Although it charges at first, a few minutes later it breaks the connection due to what I think is the "Power Delivery negotiation protocol".  I guess the computer negotiates a voltage, and wattage through a circuit board found in apple brand ac adapters, and other licensed by apple products.  After doing some digging, I found this:

USB Type C Power Converter with 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V & 20V Power Delivery - PD60:

Anyone have success with cheaper alternatives?  Thank you

Ended up going with the Pwr+ USB-C Laptop Car Charger.  Looked into the Gearmo charger, but there was over heating issues in the reviews.  So far the Pwr+ operates with almost no additional heat (EDIT: if charging from a low battery, this unit will get hot, but not enough to concern me).  Macbook pro reads 80 to 90 watt input.  Impressed!
