13324
Effects pedal manufacturer EarthQuaker Devices took a tour of Electrical Audio, with its owner and prolific recording engineer Steve Albini. Cool insight into his recording philosophy and general audio nerdery:
Christian Spaeth
Thanks for sharing. He seems to be a great dude, always willing to share his knowledge despite the somewhat asshole image he used to create for himself back in the 80s. With headphones you can hear the different rooms nicely. The video was probably done without a sound person (the pedals part demonstrates how not to place a lav for example), which is unfortunate given the subject. Is that a Lectrosonics screwdriver in his pocket by the way???
Vincent R.
My hero since the mid 90's. He, and Jack Endino. When I started out in "audio" I was part of a producing duo, and we called ourself "Jack & Dino Albino".

Steve Albini: the internet has solved the problem with music The man who produced Nirvana, Pixies and wrote the 1993 essay, The Problem with Music, has always been an industry outsider. In 2014, it’s his optimism that sets him apart (Link to video, text of speech, etc): https://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/nov/17/steve-albini-at-face-the-music-how-the-internet-solved-problem-with-music And finally, a video about his (heavy-duty) passion for poker and friends who play... 13324
I had a moment of cognitive dissonance seeing him play at the World Series of Poker in that video, while remembering him for Big Black.
