Sound Intuition
Is anyone finding that the caps on the 6060's come off a little to easily. I don't notice it as much on the beige ones but particularly on the black ones. I'm not sure if it is something to do with the exact tolerances on the cap machining and the thickness of the paint on the black ones or if it is just a batch problem. If it is a batch problem then the serial # would be an easy way of tracking. At these prices maybe an extra set of caps can be sent to the current owners until a recall can be performed. Bo Brink maybe you could way in on this. Bill
IronFilm
That reminds me, I need replacement caps for some of my own DPA 4061 lavs
Derek H
Good grief the thing is brand new and the cap is coming off? Is it supposed to just slide on like the 4060 series?

Last I checked you couldn’t even order replacement caps yet.
Derek H
DPA should include a few spares. Especially considering it’s the most expensive lav on the market.
Matthias Richter
+1 on this. If using any tape you have to be very careful not to loose the caps. They will stick to the tape maybe 1 out of 3 times.
Dave Pullmer
Thats too bad. I thought they were going to address this issue with the 6060s snap on but sounds like it hasnt made a difference..

The 406x cap has a problem with concealers and rm-11 type mounts and seems to do okay with adhesive. The 606x seems to be the opposite. OnTheSoundSideOfLife
Must have been fixed with the latest batches, I can barely take the cap off with my hands. It needs a pretty strong pull, nothing tape could achieve imo.
Sound Intuition
Well that is good to hear. Yes DPA is aware of the issue and they are replacing the defective ones with newer versions. If you dont mind could you post or PM me with the serial numbers of yours. Thanks Bill
NathanWBS
The caps/grills for the DPA 6060/1 are available to purchase in packs of three for around £40+VAT. The product code is DUA9301-X. Swap the X with B for black and F for beige etc. Thanks, Nathan.

Sound Intuition
Interesting because all mine start with H128. Would that not indicate that mine are from a later batch? So does that mean it is a batch problem?
OnTheSoundSideOfLife
Interesting indeed, it's hard to pinpoint when that problem started or ended (or restarted) without knowing other serial numbers of flawless or faulty units. Sound Intuition
I have been informed by DPA that they are aware of the problem and have dealt with the production issue. All defective mics will be covered under warranty and replaced with newer ones. Contact your local dealer or DPA dirrectly for warranty details. SD for example have this system with a mixture of dates and other info. Who knows how DPA create their serial numbers. That being said I have bought a 6060 a few days ago the serial of which starts with 226...
Sound Intuition
I wasn't sure if DPA did the serial numbering in sequencial order or not. With yours starting at 226 are you experiencing any cap issues? As mentioned they are covered under warranty.

But I‘ve only had since Thursday

Will do so tomorrow probably. The cap clicks into place when putting it back on.
Matthias Richter
my beige seems better than my black one. It does make the click on both but the black comes off nearly without any resistance
