Rob Stalder
Fred from New Zealand has just designed & had made a new 2 part cover for his VK cart. It allows the modules to be separated with the cover on. What can I say - this cover easily upstages the cart it was made for - congratulations Fred. While you are admiring the cover, take a look at his backyard - envy. envy.envy. Rob Stalder
Rob Stalder
Some more pics. That little knob with the fuzzy bit around it is one of the sliding shelf screw locks. RS
Jeff Wexler
Very cool covers (and cart, of course). Thanks Rob for posting these again after the crash (where we lost 4 days worth of gold). - Jeff Wexler
Rob Stalder
Another smart VK cart cover from Ben Vanderpoel - also in Auckland, New Zealand. Made from PVC by http://www.stash-it.co.nz/Custom+Work/Custom+Bags.html Note to Aussie soundo's - NZ is not that far away. Rob S
Rob Stalder
VK cart just made. Bottom drawer made deep enough to fit a Pelican1520 case insert. Was a bit tricky - Had to re- make another bottom module, raising the bottom full shelf up so the bottom of drawer cleared axles. Customer was very patient. Laptop shelf extends about 390mm(15.25") 300mm (11.75") front to back & 35mm (1.4") deep. Bottom box in VK (& SU) is now single open fronted with removeable rack panel at front. Rob Stalder
2012 VK cart - released. A fully functioning Drama cart that accomodates your Mixer bag. Seriously compact at 1110mm (43 ¾ inches). Seriously light at 25kg (56lbs) Has a shelf in the middle of the top module, with 2 ht settings, that removes with 4 easy bolts into the frame. With it you can have a more formal setup with your gear out of the mixer bag. With out it you can accomodate your mixer bag - upright or laying on its back. Timlin
Rob You clearly make sensational products! Are you able to team up with the NZ people who made the covers? They too look amazing, and when I get my cart order in I would definitely get one of those covers if I could arrange it - its like the cherry on the icing on the cake!! More power to you mate! Hope you have a great New Year! Rgd's Andrew
Rob Stalder
The VK cart has undergone a small transition. Main aspect is it is now rack width. It also has a square shaped empty bottom module (with rack strips front & back), to give maximum flexibility. Same old removable shelf in top mod, so you can stand your mixer bag up or lay it down. Same roller wheels and a new inclusion - 2 x removable folding rack brackets for dual monitor setup. Richard Thomas
That looks great Rob- can I check do you (or anyone else) know if audio developments mixers will fit in the sliding shelf? I've just measured mine and it's pretty much 4 1/2" bang on with the knobs
Rob Stalder
Thank you Jeff. Thank you Richard - I don't mind pedantic. The info for the VK mixer shelf you are after is; The height is actually 121mm on left side & 120mm on right side - 121mm being 4.75". The width is 450mm (17.75") (between the pop rivets) The Depth (length) is 455mm (just shy of 18"). Something else to consider is the shelf only extends 330mm (13") This could restrict you fitting mixer into tray at an angle. However you could disconnect shelf, place mixer on tray & reconnect shelf. You could turn shelf upside down, but that would cut your headroom by 32mm (1.25") Best wishes, Rob Stalder
Richard Thomas
Thanks Rob- that's looking like a tight fit, it's also exactly 13" long
