Downsides compared to the similar priced Sony wireless: They don't have a proper second antenna (using the audio cable instead as an "antenna"). They lack frequency tuner diversity, having only one frequency tune. Thus they only switch antennas when the first one completely fails (vs a Sony which has a tuner for each antenna, thus is constantly seeking and switching to the one with the best reception, rather than waiting for it to fail first).
