Mitch Lewis
Hi all, I’m trying to see if there’s a product on the market which can do a personal mix from an iOS device. This is for a reality tv setup. I have looked at the Yamaha TF rack and other similar units.. however they all require a send out of the unit to either an IFB TX or hard patched to a headphone amp/fold back speaker etc. Is there something that can broadcast (hopefully from a Dante source) Multi track audio to iOS/android devices and give a producer the option of a personal mix? (Audio comes out of mobile device)
Patrick Farrell
https://www.listentech.com/listen-everywhere/ I checked out the system when it was called Audio Everywhere before it was apparently bought by ListenTech. Gotham Sound also does a custom integration between Behringer boards and the TouchOSC app which gives more granular control.
Eric
The sound supervisor i worked with used this system on a couple of reality/competition type shows. http://www.mambamix.com/ Each producer could listen to a mix of whatever mics they wanted to from an iPad. I believe there was a headphone lack splitter hardwired from his cart. Each iPad controlled one of the 1/4" HP jacks. I don't own it so I can't give you the full run down. Last I used it was last summer. Things may have changed since then. A different show used https://www.unityintercom.com/ where producers could hear talent and control room/director. They could listen on iPhones, which sounds like what you're looking for. Not sure how many lavs you can listen to on one device. This seems to more of an intercom/IFB type of thing, but was used on a competition show I worked on. Good luck. Please let us know what you find. AVUrlacher
I was also going to suggest Unity intercom. It can be integrated with a Dante system, and if you purchase the correct license you can have up to 64 pgm feeds with the ability to pan left/right. Latency could be an issue, and this would not be a “typical” use of this system. Even without the extra license, (I believe) you can still push a certain amount of mono inputs/outputs through the system. A base license (3 users for $600) is needed to get started and pricing for expansion licenses vary depending on how you want to run your system. Give them a call and explain your concept. I’m sure they will be glad to help. https://www.unityintercom.com —au
Shastapete
You'd need the "Platinum" License (which can be rented for a reasonable day rate) but the Wavetool app can give you 4 client feeds that broadcast over wifi to an iphone/ipad app https://wavetool.fi/ You'd need a computer to run the software, but it'll take dante input and let you matrix mix the sources
Fred Salles
If the main goal is the producers to be able to make their own mix, then there is an efficient solution for Yamaha digital consoles: Airfader (server edition). It does not fully comply to your request as you will still need the use of separate headphone amp, but the clients will be able to do their own mix on their portable device. https://www.airfader.com/ You have to own or rent one of the compatible Yamaha mixer desk consoles, but I use it with my 01V96i and a laptop+wifi router. Basically it allows to remotely control the mixer desk and you can assign a specified authorized option to each client, which in your case would be the AUX buses. Then aux buses outputs wired to headphones amps for each client. I use it when I do mobile music live recording, or even live concert. Each musician can control its own personal monitor mix on its mobile device via its assigned AUX bus. it is quite efficient and I never had any issue with it. In practice only a few of them choose to use it they prefer me to control their mix the traditional way 🙂
