hobbiesodd
Very interesting read about how scientists explored and recreated the unique acoustics of Stonehenge. This first article is the broad strokes: https://www.sciencenews.org/article/stonehenge-acoustics-sounds-voices-music For those that want a deep dive into the details, here’s the actual findings report: (It’s a little dry, but the specs are there. It‘ll be fun to recreate the effects in my comp— I’ll get to it one of these days....) https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0305440320301394 Cheers, Evan

Jim Feeley
Thanks for the links Evan! I was going to make a joke that they should release the impulse responses.... but no joke, the researchers did (in science-y formats): Stonehenge impulse response measurements https://salford.figshare.com/articles/dataset/Stonehenge_impulse_response_measurements/12687554

Somewhere in one of the articles there was mention of using the data to recreate the effects in a home studio. I’d love to try it. cheers, Evan
Johnny Karlsson
Tried a few of the IRs out today on drums and choir. I guess I was hoping to hear something exciting or "mysterious" LOL, but sorry to report that it wasn't sounding very good, wasn't even much fun at all... at least as far as what I tried to do with it. Kind of a phase-y small reverb you would expect from the inside of a cement pipe or a plastic trash bin. Maybe I'll try digging a little deeper another day.
