Wheels for carts

There must be something in the air - I've received several requests in the last week for a source for the larger wheels Chinhda uses on the cart. So, as a public service, this is our present wheel of choice:

Skyway Tuff Wheel II

available as a 20" wheel or a 16" wheel. (& maybe other sizes as well)

This is a plastic spoke bicycle wheel but the plastic is very strong. We believe it is a similar material to what is used in the Pelican cases.

You want to pair the wheel with a robust tube. I think it may come with a tube but, if so, you want to replace it with:

Specialized Thorn Resistant 20 x 1.75 x 2.15 Schrader valve tube

"Specialized" appears to be the brand name.

And, of course, the size I quoted is for the 20" wheel; you would want to adjust accordingly for a 16" wheel.

Chinhda buys them from our local bike shop:

Burbank Bike Shop

4400 W Victory Blvd

Burbank, CA

818-846-8245

They are available on-line but you should be careful of knock-offs.

We've had these wheels in service on several carts for some years now without a failure (knock wood). Some of our clients' carts are at least 200 pounds when laden with gear. These don't have unlimited weight capacity so, if your cart is much heavier than 200 pounds, you should probably use something heftier.

The picture is of the 16" version.
