I wonder if the "rate limiting" page is actually counter productive. I sometimes just reload the page until it lets me in and displays the topic. And that might result in more server traffic requests than just loading the page on first request.

I get the (presumed) need to limit bots and other bad actors. But if there's a way to set a limit to the number of topics/discussions we try to open in quick succession...perhaps not more than 7 or 10...that would be nice.

[edit- like David below, I too sometimes get the rate limiting notice on the first discussion I open.]

I also get these restriction messages from CloudFare every day I check JWSound.

It would seem one of the settings is far too restrictive at the moment with how it is set.

Could be the first webpage of the day I'm viewing from JWSound, and I'll still get the error. I'm not opening up a bunch of tabs at once.

I'm having the same problem, first sign on pages are missing image icons ( " ? ") and re-loading the page often yields the CloudFare permissions thing. Re-loading again usually clears it up. I'm trying to get support to sort this out since it happened right after a recent software update.

UPDATE:  I'm fairly sure have solved the problems people have been having with CloudFlare Error messages and being locked out of the site. I have had CloudFlare disabled and since then I have not had the problem. We had this same problem back in 2021 and the solution was the same  --  disable CloudFlare. Hopefully things are working well now for our members.

Thanks!

This time I think the problem are automated AI botnets scrapping content.

I know it has happened (at least with Reddit, if I remember well) because several months ago, when explanining a friend that many online reviews are AI crap I made a search. One review praised the bokeh (yes, you read right) of one microphone brand while another one stated that the Sony UWP system in particular is the best for shoting Youtube jokes. Turns out someone had asked online for a wireless microphone for that application.

It could be fun to add some dodgy content or silly phrases to some posts here. It might turn out everywhere!

A hilarious example:
