Jim Feeley
I'm looking for a small plate or holder that will help me mount a TC box (I have Denecke JB-1s and Tentacles) or perhaps a G3-sized RX to camera cages/plates 1/4-inch and/or 3/8-inch mounts. There is a bracket made for Tentacle Sync Es, but Denecke didn't have any recommendations. So I turn to all of you: What do you use to mount TC boxes (especially) to cameras besides velcro and such? There's this bracket made by Lanparte for Tentacle Sync E. Sizing is a smidge different from JB-1 sizing. But does anyone have first-hand knowledge on if you can wedge a JB-1 into this? https://shop.tentaclesync.com/product/sync-e-bracket-by-lanparte/ There's this SSD holder from SmallRig. It might maybe sorta fit a JB-1 Again, any first-hand experiences with it? https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-universal-holder-for-external-ssd-bsh2343.html And there's this small-device holder from Vocas, though it's a bigger platform than I need for TC (though might be a good size for RX. https://www.vocas.com/vocas-small-device-holder.html I have a hazy memory of something similar from K-Tek or someone. But what am I forgetting? Note: I'm not looking for cold shoe mounts. Any warnings or recommendations? Esp with things you've used that didn't or did work? codyman
I use Sennheiser CA2 Shoe Mounts. They have 3/8" threads on the bottom or can go into a hot/cold shoe. I've put soft side velcro all over the topside of it and I've successfully mounted a G3 receiver (for scratch utilizing my IFB signal off my IFBT4 transmitter) and a JB-1 side by side on it. It's tight with both next to each other but using the heavy duty velcro branded stuff holds it all fine.

I have various solutions I made myself, mostly for larger "Lockit" type TC+Trilevel boxes that can clamp to various camera parts (incl. pan handle) but the Senny shoe mounts have worked great on small cameras if they have a shoe. It helps that I still use Senny RX for cams (which securely attach to the shoe mount), then mini TC boxes can velcro+bongo to the RX. Excuse my denseness, so with the CA2, you can stick a 3/8 bolt through the bottom of the plate or use it's built-in 3/8 bolt and get a fairly sleek mount onto a 3/8 socket? That'd be groovy! Jim PS- I have few shoe-mount things, but I'm finding the shoes less available these days. Is that just me?
Paul F
The CA2 has a 1/4-20 nut inside the shoe (not 3/8"). It's not a through-hole so it won't take a long screw. There is no screw on the CA2, only a nut. The shoe is mounted to the plate by a phillips screw. It can be relocated in several places on the plate or removed. Jim Feeley
Thanks everyone. I ordered a Sennheiser CA2... If it doesn't work out of the box, it looks like I can mod it. If I come up with anything both clever and useful, I'll post a picture here...
Paul F
Here's something interesting - https://www.etsy.com/listing/945075647/3d-printed-cage-mount-for-tentacle-sync I found these printed solutions. If any of them appeal to you, take the file to your local library and print it. Many local libraries have 3D printing capability. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4623420 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3644802 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2945331 https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/67460-cold-shoe-mount-for-tentacle-sync-e
