Sound Posted October 20, 2021 Report Posted October 20, 2021 I have a file recorded with autogain thats clipped. The waveform is asymmetric and only one side is clipped. Could this be a faulty unit?
EmRR Posted October 20, 2021 Report Posted October 20, 2021 The audio is likely asymmetrical in the first place, human voice generally is. Perhaps the clipping is your concern?
Sound Posted October 20, 2021 Author Report Posted October 20, 2021 Clipping is the concern right now because I cannot set gain manually. It just doesnt seem to set the gain according to the asymmetric waveform.. Its always the same, when I try it again..
Conor Posted October 25, 2021 Report Posted October 25, 2021 What hardware is this recorded with? Asymmetric = DC offset which can be removed with a highpass filter (even a 12db/oct from 30hz). Maybe the offset is throwing the autogain off into clipping on one side
