Sebi
I just discovered that Neumann is about to launch a new miniatrue clip mic system. It seems like they're mostly aiming at musicians but who knows how it will perform as a plant mic? Cables are available for all tx systems (3.5mm/Lemo/Mini-XLR/XLR). So far, there's only one capsule with a cardioid pattern. Capsule is priced at $299 and a whole set for a specific instrument application with gooseneck, clip-on and XLR-adapter comes at $699. Don't know if this will have any value on set or advantages over common plant mic solutions but I thought I might just share it. There's also probably people on the board who record music every once in a while. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1687662-REG/neumann_8707_mcm_114_set_high.html/overview (no affiliate-link whatsoever, just attached the first link I found since there isn't that much online yet...) igomarsound
yes saw that as well, it looks promising, especially as a plant mic. Should be available in spring 2022 But like you said it's 100% aimed at the music / live scene... Curious to hear and see how it goes for us on set. as soon as the rental companies near me got some, i'll definitely try them to see how it performs
Rick Reineke
In addition to the cardioid pattern, the sensitivity spec is low (3.4mV), so it's application is limited to close micing and high SPL sources

Seems definitely designed for brass and strings not for thin voices 😞
