Trey
Anyone see that they have announced the newest F8 recorder, the F8n Pro. I really wish that they would have fixed the knobs, but the dual AD 32 bit float is a nice addition. Also the F8 app will be released for Android in March! https://www.newsshooter.com/2022/02/25/zoom-f8n-pro-multitrack-field-recorder-with-32-bit-float/
hiro nakamura
Didn’t they mention that they have real limiter this time comparing the previous version … but nothing change on the headphone amp…
Allen Rowand
Yeah, it's almost like they can't get the F8n A/D converters anymore so they spun a new revision with the F6 converters and slapped "Pro" on the label. Hopefully they're working on a real successor to the F8n. I'd love to see them take the eq and dynamics from their other products and move them into the F series for live use, as well as more modern features (record to SSD, USB-C, etc). Makes me sad that my F8n most likely won't get any more updates, but at least I'm not tempted to upgrade!
SanJacobs
So many things that I'd like to see on the F8 that don't seem to be coming. Disable recording on individual channels, while they're still active. That would allow for running a comms setup through it. AES input. Or alternatively, it does have a USB port that already can take 4 inputs. They can even be selected from the channel options. Theoretically, this means an SL-2 for the F8 should be possible. At least they're making the Android app. That's nice.

Trey
Definitely not going to be purchasing any more Zoom recorders in the future. Glad that I got a brand new unit before all of the original F8n models were all gone. It may be some time before we know if these new chips are any good. Seems like everyone is scrambling to redesign their recorders for different components. When I do buy another recorder, it would more than likely be a Sound Designs unit.
