micah2877
Hello Newb question, maybe. I'm getting a high pitched whine from a cheap set of hyper mics into a 702T. Its a faint, ghosty whine that goes up...then down..repeat. These mics (both) are fine in other recorders, and other mics are fine in this same recorder. It happens in spaces with possible emi/rfi and not in others, and sometimes it occurs outside in wooded areas. I dont want to throw out the mics cause they are (were) good stunt mics. It sounds like power oscillating. Perhaps having to do with the aging 48v ? Sorry if it was something simple. Thanks All Mart Colvin Chas SC
ronmac
I haven't personally experienced this happening to a 7 series recorder, but I have had this issue with an original, two channel Mixpre. Perhaps this explains your issue: https://www.sounddevices.com/oscillation-with-transformer-balanced-inputs/ Good luck with getting to the cause with your mics. micah2877
Ronmac thanks so much. I missed that one about the oscillation. That must be it. The mics in question are the cheap Lyxpro sdpc's and I'm not too surprised after reading that. I'll just stick with what always works: my sennheisers. 🙂
