Jeff Wexler
note the custom EV "football" windscreen which actually houses 2 Schoeps microphones (see 2 XLR connectors on the bale) for stereo ambience recording. On top of the sound cart you might recognize an outboard MS matrix decoder we used for these recordings. The Nagra on the cart is still my venerable mono 4.2; we would get the Nagra 4-S (no TC) out of the truck when we wanted to do the stereo recordings. Also, you can see the smaller windscreen is one of Don Coufal's "butterfly" design --- entirely made of Acoustifoam and very effective, the shape says it all. Philip Perkins
Nice to see the Sela again too. Amazing photo, in that we are seeing a state of the art soundcart from the 1970s. How underpopulated it looks, but what great sound it made. Philip Perkins CAS
tim apter
What a great picture. Its really cool for me seeing this stuff, because I was working with a Nagra 4.2 mono this morning - i was helping out with a lecture for first year sound students. They all have to learn on 4.2s to get the experience, and i reckon its worth it.
soundwiz
Hi, the Nagra 4.2 is not only a sweet sounding machine but a real pack mule,it can take any beating but still render good sound (that is what it is intended for) there will sure be a lot of stories of Nagra 4.2 working in extreme conditions, would love to haer them, alas very few use them now though Harry
tim apter
ive used them a lot as a student and that sturdiness is mostly why the school has them! and yeah, they really do sound great.
