Alex Weinberg
For my application I need a ta5f to 3.5mm cable with -10 pad built in. To prevent overloading the camera it would be going to. Is this kind of cable possible to make and where would I be able to source getting one? DanieldH
I came across this: http://www.uneeda-audio.com/pads/
Fred Salles
Mmm there would be no space for fitting the resistors inside the plug. Maybe unless you use cms but i am not even sure. You might need to have a small inline “package” along the cable for the resistors. It can be very small as -if I understood correctly- your signal is unbalanced so you just need 2 resistors. I use Vishay CMF55 metal film resistors for that purpose. Very silent.
tourtelot
FWIW, I have fit 1/8w resistor attenuators inside a Switchcraft mini-TRS. Not fun but possible. The Uneeda pages were posted by my good friend Rick Chinn; a brilliant engineer and designer of many Mackie mixing desks. Cool guy. D. Rick Reineke
I have padded 3.5mm input plugs with two resistors. If the input jack is not in a small recess, 3.5mm plugs with large barrels are available, which makes it relatively easy to fit the resistors in. Izen Ears
What value resistors? And how do you figure that out?!
Alex Weinberg
Thanks everyone for the input, I am having the pros at Gotham sound make me a custom cable with the pad.
