curleysound
They had a lot of fun naming the shots! Also, no smart slate... What's up with that? Also, language is NSFW Inglourious Basterds - Quentin Tarantino's Camera Angel

ProSound
I am going to save this video to show to the next producer that says a Smart Slate is a must for production.......
RPSharman
That is wonderful! What really struck be were scenes that had gone through the alphabet over 5 times!! It seems some of the actors were annoyed at times, but she prevailed. Adios, fuckers! LOL
fatfatjames
i will ask our slate department in singapore to try this...
Marco Lopez
It's a very nice idea! At long hours this way of calling the slate, can break the tension.
studiomprd
sometimes we do theme days.... I remember doing liquids: when we got to X = "Xerex ...the anti-freeze!" then we hit Z and I said: "Zerex: X was a misspelling!"

Marc Wielage
They had a lot of fun naming the shots! Also, no smart slate... What's up with that? Quentin is not a fan of digital technology and is very much a traditionalist. I'm told that he believes that timecode slates are a distraction. Post facilities doing his work just add another 1-2 hours per dailies session for the additional time needed to manually sync the clap sticks, depending on the amount of footage. It's not that big a deal, provided the production company can afford the extra charges. (This amounts to about $1000 per day for HD dailies. For a $50M+ movie, it's fairly trivial.) --Marc W. Zack
The last film I worked on, we had this little competition of who could come up with the goofiest naming scheme with our slates. It all started when I tried making a point about using "correct phonetics" haha. We were also getting a bit loopy shooting at 4am in 25 degree weather. pverrando
Of course, a cute girl with a thick Italian accent goes a long way towards making this a tolerable distraction to people that matter.
