Patrick Tresch Posted May 24, 2024 Report Posted May 24, 2024 I would love to have a version with : - the R4+ as main compartiment with TC pocket as a stand alone for small bag version and - RX8+ module as an easy add on with some sort of zipper fixation and easy cable management (to put the multipin connector) and your utilities pocket (2 transmitter with mic, and some lavalier sticker accessories). 😉 Do you consider selling them? When they are finished in a couple of month I could consider selling them. An alternative for you could also be to get a custom bag from https://protogear.ca Quote
igomarsound Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 wow. please keep us posted as I think that your bag is very nice looking and effective. thanks for sharing the making off your 1st version. I wish I had the sewing capabilities (and machines) demonstrated here. as for me I use a KTEK stingray junior X bag when i need to be on a documentary workflow whats nice about them is the 1/4 -20 thread mount, (so it can hold a phone, a antenna , etc) the bag acts also as a great protection cage itself, with its aluminium frame. and it have lots of side pockets to put all your essentials and be quick in organizing your workday and end of day (you know the type, it can be stressful not to have convenients pockets to collect all your expensive stuff coming at you at the same time, TX, IEM, camera hops, TC boxes, ... while you're trying to keep track, but hey it's better than the talent forgetting to give it back i guess...) what I dont like is that it adds some weight to the very light but powerfull r4+ setup. so what i see as an improvement for your bag, if I may, is to add these 1/4 thread mounts T nuts. such as the image here : what google lens told me as a reverse search is this text : t nuts thread 1/4 - 20 id dont know how or if it would be feasable, but here are my 2 cents. but already nice work and love your addition with the other compartiment with the AD8. impatient to see your gen2. pedrosaearp Posted August 21, 2025 Report Posted August 21, 2025 I am a new user of the sonosax R4 +. I love it but i had some few times problems with SD cards speed. Do you recommend any special card? There is nothing about it in the sonosax site or user manual. I am very happy with the way it sounds but i agree to that there are some upgrades that could be done. The photos was taken during a shooting in January in the border between Nepal and India. Best Quote
pscottm Posted September 2, 2025 Report Posted September 2, 2025 Sandisk Ultra are reliable, find a card with a slower speed like 120mb/sec and buy from a reputable retailer. Too many fakes on amazon. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1593895-REG/sandisk_sdsdun4_032g_an6in_ultra_sdhc_32gb_class.html Quote
Patrick Tresch Posted Tuesday at 07:49 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 07:49 PM New brighter screen for the R4+ upgrade on the Sononews !!! And also "carnet noir" tribute for Jeff Wexler. https://sonosax.ch/sononews-march-2026/ Quote

The link that @Patrick Tresch posted answers this: https://sonosax.ch/sononews-march-2026/ Quote SD Card formatter As you know, not all SD cards are equal and even new high speed cards may lead to errors (Speed Error). SD cards are also somehow “ageing” and this error may happen after using cards for a few month only. We recommend you to reformat your cards on regular basis using the specific SD Card formatter courtesy provided for free download by the root organization “SDcard.org”. We noticed significant improvements in speed and reliability on pretty old SD cards after using this formatting utility. For Windows https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/sd-memory-card-formatter-for-windows-download For MacOS https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/sd-memory-card-formatter-for-mac-download NOTE: For optimal results you must select “Overwrite format”. This is a slow process that takes about one hour to format a 128Gb card. Be patient. IMPORTANT: After formatting your SD card with this specific SD card formatter, you MUST reformat your cards to UDF format using the formatting utility in the SYSTEM menu of the SX-R4+. Am impressed also that they're starting a new production run of the Sonosax SX-R4+: Quote SONOSAX SX-R4+ Availability We are pleased to announce that we are starting a new production run of the SX-R4+, with the first units expected to be available in around six months. As I thought the SX-R4+ was very impressive when it was initially released as it was "the first of the next generation of recorders", easy to make the case for the SX-R4+ vs a Zaxcom Nomad or Sound Devices 6 Series, but not so sure I'd take it now in 2026 vs a Nova or 833? Lucas Posted yesterday at 01:40 PM Report Posted yesterday at 01:40 PM Good to hear that they are still being made. In the Gotham Sound wrap up of November 2025 there was a mention of it being discontinued. To my knowledge the last European made recorder standing (?). Quote
