Amira and AES question

When I send AES 1,2 out on my sound devices 664 or 633 into the Arri Amira set to AES input I only get one channel of audio instead of both. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

 

When I do the same thing with Sony cameras both channels show up.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be a routing thing in the mixer that maybe got changed inadvertently?  An audio guy that I work with regularly, uses Lectro digital camera hops and sends into my Amira via AES.  Just worked with him for five days last week and I had two channels coming in.  I'll try to grab my camera tomorrow and see how everything was set, but I think it's pretty straight forward- just flipping the side switch over to AES.

Thanks RNG. I’d like to figure it out. I don’t think it’s a routing issue since I have no problems with Sony and Cannon cameras, but can’t figure out the way Arri does it.

I actually ran into this same issue today, trying to feed a Amira aes audio from my 633. I didn’t have time to troubleshoot it before we rolled, so I’m just sending my mono mix to the camera instead of a boom and lav split like I originally intended.

 

I played with different routing options in my output menu and it didn’t change it on the Amira. Bit of a head scratcher.

First of all I‘d like to know how you are sending audio from your 633 to the Amira? Cable or wireless? If wireless which receiver and transmitter are you using?

I’ve only done it via cable.

I was cable also, and agree with your previous post, when sending aes audio over cable to Sony cameras it splits the 2 channels no problem for me.

So I reached out to Arri and below is what they sent back to me regarding getting stereo AES into the Amira:

 

 

 

I have checked this with my colleagues in Munich, it should be stereo. AES must be selected for both channels in the audio menu.
