TomBoisseau
Can anyone suggest a inexpensive source for TA3F connectors. I think I want the "real" Switchcraft brand unless someone can suggest something just as good at equal or less price. I've tried the "cheap" china brands that can be had on ebay. They are no good. The pin "socket" actually spins in the connector making it difficult to mate. Thanks, Tom
John Moore
I usually buy my connectors, bulk cable, etc. from Marketek: http://www.markertek.com/Cables-Connectors-Adapters/Audio-Connectors/XLR-Connectors/Switchcraft-Corporation/TA3MX.xhtml?TA3M Prices are decent, they have just about everything (including Hirose 4-pin!), and their in-stock items shipping time is great. Audio Daddyo
I get most of my connectors from BTX. http://www.btx.com/ Nice people and good prices. Andy
John Moore
Andy- I checked out BTX... their prices are quite a bit more expensive than Markertek- they must be nice people! John
Derek H
Tom - Are you referring to the Rean TA3 when you say cheap Chinese version?
Audio Daddyo
John, The prices I get are cheaper than their catalog. Not sure why that is but you should call them and ask for their best price. Andy
TomBoisseau
Tom - Are you referring to the Rean TA3 when you say cheap Chinese version? Honestly, I don't know who made the TA3F's I purchased off ebay, but they had a VERY flimsy spacer insert and it was easy for the socket to rotate out of alignment. I will NOT use them again. Thanks, Tom Tom, here's an option you may not have considered yet: http://www.trewaudio.com/store/product.php?productid=138&cat=80&page=2. These are made to Remote Audio's specs, and have been refined over the last few years. In every aspect I am aware of, they equal or exceed the Switchcraft brand, and at a much lower price. TomBoisseau
Thanks Glen. That really is the "best buy" around. Interestingly, I had purchased some of these before from you before and had forgotton all about it. The quality was really quite good! Derek H
I just received about 20 of the REAN TA3's from Markertek, I'll post back here with my results at some point.
sounddguy
I just received about 20 of the REAN TA3's from Markertek, I'll post back here with my results at some point. So what was the outcome of REAN vs Remote Audio vs Switchcraft. I need to order a bunch.
Eric Toline
The Rean TA3 are all I use for TA3 interconnect cables. Never an issue and much less expensive. Eric
sounddguy
Thanks. I had just finished the last of my Remote Audio stock and noticed the price has jumped. The Rean price is hard to beat.
Eric Toline
Thanks. I had just finished the last of my Remote Audio stock and noticed the price has jumped. The Rean price is hard to beat. $1.69ea at Markertek. Can't beat that price with a stick. Be warned that Markerteks shipping cost are kind of high. Aitor Amozarrain
Any of you use any alternatives to TA5s? I do not know anything but Switchcraft. I have ordered a chinese TA5 in ebay but I do not have many hopes for it.
Calum
Been using Rean TA3 for all my cables and TA5 with lectro links cables and cos11 mics, easy to wire, good strain relief and moisture resistance. Very good robust product
Calum
http://www.rean-connectors.com/en/products/rt5fc-b The rubber dust boot can be slipped over the head of the Cos11 and run down the cable to protect the connector if its going to be a sweaty shoot. Aitor Amozarrain
Thanks a lot Calum. The rean catalog I was looking at only had TA3 listed so I assumed they were not doing it, I will have to call the dealer. I am going to buy some of the weather proof ones as well to give them a go, but I thought they might not fit in all my interconnects. Could you do all 788 outputs with those? As an example. Derek H
REAN makes TA5 compatible connectors too now. Took them awhile but they have them now. There is another long discussion on the REAN connectors somewhere on JW Sound, worth a read if you can find it.
