Shane Munro Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 I want to use my A20 mini Tx with a DPA 4097 as a plant mic. The shape of the Tx makes it problematic. Does anyone have a suggestion for mounting or propping the unit? I need it to be vibration resistant. Quote
EnotsMedia Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 This is my favorite mount! Magnet is SUPER strong, but also w/ some TopStik it’ll stick anywhere. DPA Microphones PC4099 Magnet Mount https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/828107-REG/DPA_Microphones_PC4099_PC4099_Magnet_Mount_for.html use this extension cable to remote the TX https://www.sweetwater.com/c1033--Mic_Cables?highlight=CM2218B00&mrkgadid=&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=&mrkgbflag=&mrkgcat=&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700077195933624&lid=92700077195933624&ds_s_kwgid=58700008069260217&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=2145953073824&product_id=CM2218B00&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&device=m&network=u&matchtype=&adpos=largenumber&locationid=9006588&creative=625135836145&targetid=pla-2145953073824&campaignid=18467073279&awsearchcpc=&&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqZL7hpmwgAMVQvTICh1uVAXZEAQYASABEgK0SPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds To add: it’s solid rubber, hard, but with some give. Bottom is magnet, covered in rubber- Quote
Shane Munro Posted July 28, 2023 Author Report Posted July 28, 2023 I was hoping I didn’t have to use the extension cable. I’m after something more contained, something where I can walk up to a shelve or table and quickly hide it then grab it on my way out, one handed. Something more like a little bucket that unit can sit in so the mic is away from the reflective surfaces. But a great suggestion, definitely something to go in the kit. Thank you. Quote
EnotsMedia Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 @Shane Munro Here’s a pic for reference on how I sometimes roll with the Piano mount: SMQV/ URSA Pouch/ micro dot extension/ and 4097 on Piano mount (w/TopStik). Extra extension cable is tucked securely into Ursa pouch. Quote
Wandering Ear Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 You don’t say where you are trying to hide it that is problematic? And what do you mean by vibration resistant? a few strips of 2” photo black can hold a tx in a lot of situations. Or some Joe’s sticky stuff. Quote
Shane Munro Posted July 29, 2023 Author Report Posted July 29, 2023 Thanks Jeremy, I see what your doing there, nice set up. Quote

If I hide a mic behind a lamp on a coffee table and a glass or cup is heavily placed I want the mic further away from the table surface. I think EnotsMedia example is a pretty good compromise though. Shane Munro Posted August 5, 2023 Author Report Posted August 5, 2023 Thanks Jeremy Instead of the cable I used the extender gooseneck. Good advice. Quote
