RadoStefanov Posted November 27, 2023 Report Posted November 27, 2023 Like the topic says: What chair do you use? I am looking for a chair that is easy to transport while pushing the cart. Comfortable. Quote
humbuk Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 I use a hunting tripod from Decathlon. It is height adjustable and they sell a seat cushion for it. Quote
Michael Render Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 I use a Timber Ridge folding chair. It is not the most portable, but it is very comfortable for long shoots. And it hooks onto my cart. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F55WTV4/ Quote
EnotsMedia Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 While I’m very interested to see what pops up here ….I’ve seen and tried a bunch of different chairs. They all seem to be the same …nothing special, not that comfortable, and…just ok. It took me a few years to buy one just because I thought it was “stupid”…now I have 6… https://thefoambox.com/product/the-foam-box/ super lightweight, can hang off your cart with a carabiner, (mine actually slides INTO the cart for transport) multiple height settings (Chicago/ LA) ZERO moving parts AND Infinite uses other then just to “sit” on. Made in North America….And of course the BEST part….suuuuuuuuuuuuper comfortable to sit on. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. So damn comfortable. I don’t know about you but I can’t just sit still while I mix…I like to rock, roll, and fidget . Not happening with ANY other seat. I literally take these with me anywhere I’m allowed to “bring my own chair.” Once you try it and there’s no going back…and no it’s not like a wooden apple with those silly foam toppers… Quote
edward chick Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 I’m another fan of the Foam Box. Comfortable to sit on, and handy just like a wood apple box. Quote
John Blankenship Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 Exactly what you're looking for: Camp Time Roll-A-Chair https://www.camptime.com/collections/chair Compact, durable, light weight, and surprisingly comfortable. Quote
Valentine Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 I used a small tripod chair for years but always found it too low. Then I saw someone using a Walkstool on set and that's what I use now. Basically a tripod chair that can extend. https://www.walkstool.com/ Quote

JeHe Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 another fan of the foam box! In Belgium we have grippers that use a foam box to prevent resonance when using a slider. An it's warm to sit on in winter! Quote

Patrick Farrell Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 As a utility I use this chair. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00339C3PK/ Folds really flat and is easy to tuck away on the follow cart while being easier on the family jewels. But it sits pretty low which depends on how small your cart is. I mostly see people using the aluminum, "low" version of director's chairs but another option I've seen is something like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2KKT2YB/?th=1 Quote
The Documentary Sound Guy Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 The most comfortable one I've come across is a drum throne like this one (not necessarily this model, but this style): https://www.tomleemusic.ca/gibraltar-9600mb-professional-drum-throne-cordura-motorcycle-seat-with-backrest-16-inch-99493 It's heavy, but it can travel flipped upside down on top of the mixer cart, held in place with bungees. I will say don’t be fooled my imitators…..it is well designed, lightweight and travels very well…made in Sweden. The nock offs are not worth it. Quote

That's not been my experience having used one for several years now. I would caution anyone not to compare it to others that appear to be similar. Quote
PMC Posted November 29, 2023 Report Posted November 29, 2023 That CampTime chair looks like a winner to me. I need a little back support. Quote

Johnny Karlsson Posted November 29, 2023 Report Posted November 29, 2023 https://a.co/d/e7LIPjh Also a version of a tripod chair, but much more comfortable and has back support. Made for sitting around waiting in a hunters blind for hours, I think. Not a nutcracker. Quote
OB1 Posted November 29, 2023 Report Posted November 29, 2023 My go-to also for the hunting crowd: https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/blackout-swivel-tripod-chair It's not light but my cart has wheels so I don't focus too much on weight. The functionality is where it shines: Adjustable feet to help level odd terrain and the swivel which is huge as it allows you to sneak in and out of the seat without much disturbance if you're tucked into a tight spots. Backrest is great and doesn't do a number on the jewels like other smaller chairs. Quote

osa Posted November 30, 2023 Report Posted November 30, 2023 Not the most compact but for me the most comfortable, and i have the version with back support. Folds n rides at the back of my cart. But dangit they keep stealing it for a talent stool. Guitar bits easy to remove https://gatorco.com/product/guitar-stool-with-stand-gfw-gtrstool/ Quote

It is very comfortable and has a wide back. Folds easily and is very sturdy. I have a walk stool and various small folding chairs and stools that have their time and place, but this chair is my #1. Nick Ray Harris Posted January 8, 2024 Report Posted January 8, 2024 Hunting Blind Chairs Black Sierra Nitro Pro XL https://a.co/d/9gkXS2L That particular one has some QC issues, needed loctite on the bolts, but I bought it because the base and seat are attached and it folds relatively flat. Some of them are in two pieces. Quote
