Derek H
So I have two Sennheiser ek3041 receivers in block 23. One antenna set is exactly the correct length (according to the remote audio cutting guide), the other set is actually a better length for block 22. (about a quarter or of an inch too long) My question is, is it worth the risk of potentially mangling the thick coil type antenna by trimming it or is a one block discrepancy in antenna length a negligible difference? Antennas for the ek3041s are terminated with a special lemo pin and expensive to replace outright. Also, both transmitter antennas are the correct length. I've never noticed a big difference in real world performance but it's a hard thing to compare in most shooting conditions.
cmassey
If there is any chance of screwing up the antenna, not necessary! The quarter inch difference won't make a noticeable bit of difference in the receivers performance... cleve
Derek H
Thanks cleve! That's what I was thinking but just wanted more opinions..
RPSharman
I called Lectro a few months ago about something unrelated, but while I had them on the phone, I mentioned the antenna length on one of my 21 or 22 SMs was not the same as the others. The told me the difference was negligible at best, and not to worry about it.
bigmaho
If you compare antenna length charts from Audio Ltd, Lectro and Sennheiser they will give you three different lengths for the same frequency. Billy, Bili, Bill-E
studiomprd
and if it is a coiled type aerial, not just a length of wire, like the current Lectro "whip" aerials, cutting it is not a good idea. in any case, just a little bit better placement will make a lot more difference. JDirckze
I 'forgot' my lectro antennae (long story) for my links once, cut some single core copper wire that I borrowed from the sparky (that's an electrician for you Americanos) and gaffer taped them into the BNC's on my 411's. Worked perfectly... I now carry them in my kit, just in case.
mikewest
Do not cut The aerial has an acceptance bandwidth that will cover what you need mike
Ray M. Owen
If I remember correctly, an antenna can cover the entire next BLOCK on boths sides of the block it's tuned for. Ray
