Bob Marts
I've been seeing a lot of used Lectro block 21 for sale around lately. How is the block 21 space (in practical use) in major cities these days?
Marc Wielage
Fine in LA. But (as wiser people than me have said) "it depends." I've always been able to find at least 4 or 5 available channels on BLK21 in the parts of LA I've been in, but occasionally, it's been dicey and I've had to chase it a little bit. --Marc W. Audio Daddyo
I've also seen alot of Block 21 on Ebay. Block 21 is good in the Northeast (USA). Occasionally it's challenging in parts of NYC but I have been always able to find a clear frequency. Andy
Steve Joachim
In LA, TV channels 25-26-27 (536-554) on block 21 are shown as open. One of the best places to be now after the transition. Along with blocks 20 and 25.
hemmerlinj
NYC can be tricky with blk 21. I wouldn't recommend it for running a high number tx's and rx's but for 3 or 4 it should be fine. You can definitely find useable freqs. About a year ago I was using my Lectro 411A's and was able to squeak out 2 clear channels with the tracking front end. The client-provided camera hop (Lectro 201's) couldn't discriminate from all the hash occupying the entire BLK, so it was a no-go for them. Verizon testing facility nearby, or so I was informed... Haven't been back there since though.
WhyOne
Agree with Marc - some scanning in LA sometimes required, but I usually can find three slots...
Audio Daddyo
Hey Brent, I worked in Weymouth for 3 days last summer. I used one receiver in Block 21 with no problem. Hmmm! Per chance were you working for "Inside Out"? Andy
