etiefenthaler Posted July 23, 2024 Report Posted July 23, 2024 Hi, Please excuse my possibly silly question: I have here a Sonosax M2D2 and a Sony Alpha 7CII. Is there a way to connect the M2D2 digitally via the MIShoe? Are there other possibilities for digital audio integration? Greetings from Switzerland Erich Quote
Mungo Posted July 24, 2024 Report Posted July 24, 2024 No, there isn't and there will surely never be. It's always been annoying how Sony protect their secrets about their proprietary interfaces against third-party manufacturers. According to this source so much useful stuff would be possible to support us soundies when working with FX9, FX6, FX3, A7S, FS7 ... The MI-Shoe design itself WOULD allow: - small audio in (smaller than XLR-K3M) - digital audio in - DC battery out up to 1.6A! - 2ch audio monitoring out - data (probably TC, tally?) Anyway, there now is an adaptor for the DJI Mic 2. At least. Quote
etiefenthaler Posted July 25, 2024 Author Report Posted July 25, 2024 Thanks for reply, Mungo.🙏 Hopefully somebody has more information or even a hotshoe solution😀 Quote
Patrick Tresch Posted July 26, 2024 Report Posted July 26, 2024 I spoke to Sonosax about this hot shoe. It's kind of difficult to implement. I told them that the potential camera owner base would be huge. But difficult to sell a 1700.-- preamp for a 3000.-- camera... If you want to get a try 😉 here some more infos about the electronics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi_Interface_Shoe Quote
etiefenthaler Posted July 28, 2024 Author Report Posted July 28, 2024 Hi Patrick, thanks for reply. Unfortunately no information about aes input in the linked wiki😫 It feels weird connecting m2d2 via line out to Sony Alpha 7 C2 Camera, knowing this Camera has digital in on hotshoe.., Greetings vom Bodensee Quote
Mungo Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Someone from Denmark made an analogue-in cable, haven't tested it yet: https://nordicproaudio.com/wireless-audio/wireless-accessories/reciever-accessories/npa-fxhac-hotshoe-adaptercable-for-fx6-analogue-audio-on-channel-3-4 Quote
