LoganSound Posted July 30, 2024 Report Posted July 30, 2024 I have been meaning to do this for a while because these devices are so damn cool but the anxiety around battery failing one day makes me sad. Fortunately they are not too tricky to get into, and do not over utilize glue! Chips on the board are all shielded, downside is I can't document them, upside is RF shielding. Also interested in modding firmware though I am a total novice so that is going slowly (planning to ask around Def Con in a few weeks for recommendations) https://github.com/LoganSound/Deity-BP-TRX-Repair/tree/main https://imgur.com/a/UUb3bIW Battery Text Reads: AP158 3.7V(10.36Wh) 4.2V 2800mAh Quote
Paul F Posted July 30, 2024 Report Posted July 30, 2024 Cool. I've wanted to open one up to see who's chips they are using. Too bad the cans are hiding them. Quote
The Documentary Sound Guy Posted July 30, 2024 Report Posted July 30, 2024 Very cool. I don't have any interest in this particular hardware, but I'm interested in firmware hacking in general. Keep us posted! Quote
Conor Posted July 30, 2024 Report Posted July 30, 2024 For those attempting this: it would be wise to observe ESD safe practices if you're going to be touching RF boards bare-handed. Get yourself an ESD mat that can be connected to an earth and wrist strap Quote
