Vaxis wireless video fan noise…

Has anyone dealt with these stupid things and figured out how to quiet the fans on the transmitters? I’m dealing with 3x of these Storm 3000 on set and the fan noise is significant on quiet scenes. The assistants  have no idea how to control them and the user manual says nothing substantive about almost anything. 
 

Any ideas? I have to imagine that there’s some sort of PC USB control to tweak settings but if so it must be dealer info only. I guess that’s my next stop.

Hello Derek. I am shooting since may on a series with only Vaxis transmitters and receivers.

 

There is a auto and low fan mode. But my 1rst AC said that you can turn off ALL fans completely without overheating the unit.

 

You can manually change the fan on the vaxis itself. You need to enter the menu with the buttons and then change the fan mode.

Thanks Luis, would you mind asking your AC friend how to do that exactly? Our ACs have no idea. Storm 3000s on our set

Nevermind, we figured it out. It’s much more quiet in low mode than auto. 
 

If it helps anyone in the future on the Storm 3000 transmitter you hold the left button for 4 seconds to get into the menu.

You can turn them OFF without issues. Its even quieter and we had no issues all summer in hot environnements.

The ACs won’t go for that but LOW mode is a big improvement.

I had an AC tell us that they couldn’t be turned off, not sure if he didn’t want to or not that smart…. I ended up doing it myself. Pretty sure if they get too hot the fan would come on. 

They are ridiculously loud for an on camera TX

Just shot 4 month series with multi vaxis Tx and Rx's being OFF and we never had any issue that was heat related.

One of our ACs was brave enough to try off and it’s been running that way a few weeks now with no issues. Temp display hasn’t even changed. The other two are in Low mode now which is acceptable.
