Tascam’s 2ch recorder

Tascam is keeping on teasing about their upcoming 32-bit float TC recorder.

It might not be the main large production tool but it might be a pretty good tiny little stash away unit.

Where does it say that? Maybe it will be just one XLR and an extra 3.5mm stereo input.

Basically that would be an updated "Tascam DR10X Pro" (i.e. just like their older DR10X, that is the DR10 with an XLR form factor, but with the TC updates etc that the new DR10L Pro has. So it's reasonable to expect that this form factor record is surely coming "soon"? As the update for the DR10X, which I have myself and quite like).

Edit: ah, I see here is where it's mentioned the 2x XLR inputs: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_imEo5qljb/  Could be a good competitor to the Zoom F3??

That indicates the pricing in USD will be $399

At first glance I think I prefer this Tascam FR-AV2 over the Zoom F3, due to a less clunky implementation of TC and has the ability to do 24bit BWAV which the F3 can't do.

However the Tascam is a hundred bucks higher priced with the listed RRP, but I expect that will come down with time.

Wireless audio monitoring can be done with the optional AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter (available separately).

My Portacapture X8 don't have this possibility, if they mean it can be monitored by Bluetooth headphones!? But maybe just recording levels, then the same for Portacapture X8.

Robert mentioned and also showed in the first video that it is possible to listen with Bluetooth headphones, which is a very, very great and cool feature! The small size and the Time Code generator are other big advantages.

I myself plan to get a Sound Devices recorder alongside the Portacapture X8 to have more flexibility. But yes, wireless headphones are indeed cool!
