RadoStefanov Posted December 7, 2024 Report Posted December 7, 2024 I have been testing VRX with comtek transmitter and just got the Nova One Unit with the internal card. I am testing the analog transmitting at the moment and will report back. Quote
Olle Sjostrom Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 One unit is a thing that Rado built before Zaxcom manufactured the Nova. I think it was a Nomad that Rado opened up and put receivers inside of it? There’s a thread on here. anyway, oneunit is now a Rado trademark that he uses when talking about the Nova, because the nova was probably inspired by Rado. But I dunno Quote

But I dunno One Unit is a term i coined when I designed the all in one shell recorder receiver transmitter antenna distribution and power. Nova was supposed to be call one unit but somebody taught it sounds like a male genitalia.. 🙂 So now only my version serial number one is called OneUnit and has it engraved.\ Quote
Derek H Posted December 9, 2024 Report Posted December 9, 2024 Cool, that’s kinda what I thought. Yes, I remember the FrankenNomad. Pretty cool. Didn’t it have an NP1 slot too? Rado, what say you about the VRX? Some friends of mine tested one here in Chicago, comparing it to a standard Comtek setup and also Lectro IFB and Sennheiser gear. They thought that Lectro T4 with an IFBlue was the best. Of course not really an apples to apples test. Quote

The squelch seems to be better too. The only negative I’ve noticed is that there is a (not terrible but) noticeable delay compared to the comteks. Quote
RadoStefanov Posted December 11, 2024 Author Report Posted December 11, 2024 SMall delay is actually beneficial for video monitor delay Quote
