All this testing great but what a terrible format to present the data. Links to his spreadsheets at least would be helpful. Of course there’s no way to monetize a link to a spreadsheet. I blame YouTube.

I appreciate the effort, but the presentation lost me.  I believe the guy did his testing with those discharging devices and did his measurements right, but I'd don't really need to see him do them?  All?  I'm glad he made the charts and am grateful for them.  Perhaps the greatest aspect of the service he did to the sound community is testing so many sorts of batteries, so that people who live in areas where "brand name" batteries are really expensive or not available might be able to see test data on the batteries that are for sale where they live.

Another benefit of testing all of them is not just for what you said about where "name brand" battteries might be available, but also:

1) it might discover a new top performer that we've been overlooking, one that could become the "brand name" that everyone then trusts and recommends

2) it can help confirm that the "community wisdom" of whatever is "the best" is indeed that

3) when it's repeated again and again over the long term (he did the same tests 6yrs ago as well) then it can be check on if changes have happened, what if a battery manufacturer makes a big change to their batteries to cut down costs but doesn't alert us to it, yet it impacts battery performance by 9%? Unless you go and test the batteries, you might not catch this.

If people want to save themselves from watching a 20 minute video, here is some of the key data from it:

Well, that's a nice job you did Iron, but it takes revenue away from Project Farm, who did all the work. The reason he provides all the minutia is to make a video of reasonable length to monetize his efforts.

I think it is a bit... well... short-sighted perhaps... to complain about the format of his videos when he has done so much valuable work. I mean, jwsoundgroup.net is a site for people who make money in film and video, yes? Shouldn't we let Project Farm dip his beak into the water?

You make a fair point, but we are also linking back to him as well, I'm sure he's getting far more views (well, relatively speaking for the size of this forum) thanks to this thread being active and discussing it vs if it didn't exist.

It's also helpful to share the data further, should their channel ever go offline in the years to come. (unlikely but never impossible)

Love the data.  Hate the presentation.  I turned it off after 30 seconds.  Thank you deeply for the charts.  That was badly needed.

I disagree we shouldn't be putting the data in a more useful format.  Video is a terrible format for data ... yes it's a lot of work to produce the data (a LOT of work ... I used to do product reviews), but if you're on YouTube, you have to provide a better reason for people to watch.  Tell a story; crown a winner ... use the video medium for what it is good for ... and back it up with data.  Preferably in a spreadsheet & open format.

I get the challenges around monetization, but there is more to a business model than just YouTube views.  Chasing views alone for funding is not a great business model to begin with ... building a sustainable revenue stream around YouTube does best with multiple outlets and a way to control your subscriber base that isn't locked behind YouTube's walled garden.  Not saying its easy, but there are better ways to share data than video, and better business models than data embedded in video.

This site is also an amazing resource for people who are learning. And given that it is also one of the very few actually serious and reputable sites, a link from a site with "auctoritas" will likely provide visits much beyond the initial "novelty" time period. So, a good long term thing.

Many thanks Paul F for pointing us to this, and IronFilm for the comprehensible charts ..but no Eneloop? Seems odd..
