I recently updated firmware on my 833 and noticed 2 plug ins for 833, out of curiosity have any of you tried noise assist and  or cedar sdnx.

Both seem ultra handy, any real world thoughts on the 2 of them?

I use NA on my 888. It helps, but you have to use it sparingly. Too much and it introduces artifacts. Does not sound good. I don’t go over “4 or 5” on the NA setting. The 3 setting tends to sound right, helps take out hvac in hotel rooms etc for interviews, also keeps b.g. noise down outdoors. Good tool to have.

I have had the NA plugin for 8 months now . As Edward mentioned, use it sparingly for best results. Can be nice on a bus for village, or on the mix for quick turnaround stuff without a robust post pipeline. Helps reduce room reverb slightly, hvac etc. I charge for it like a piece of hardware rental whenever I can. I personally couldn't bring myself to spend more on the CEDAR plugin.

As everyone mentions when these tools come up in discussion, use it thoughtfully, if it's a bigger project clear it with post in advance and don't touch the ISOs with it. It's worth demoing these algorithms on set when you have some downtime to gauge their effectiveness.

Does the NA work with 32 bit depth too? It is also available for MixPre-6 II, but it turns out that some plugins do not support the 32bit depth, what I mainly use!
