Philip Perkins Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 I need to rent a Hi8 format video deck to dub off the video from a performance from the 1990s. Local SF area would be best, and I can use a Hi8 camera to dub from if need be. I only need to copy about 45 min of material, for Lines Ballet's archive. Anyone have or know where I could find such a thing? thanks! Quote
Jim Feeley Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Dub Express's / Express Media's website say they can still do transfers from Hi8. Not sure if that site is up to date, though. https://expressmedia.tv/post-production/duplication-and-graphics/ And I reached out to some local friends... Quote
The Documentary Sound Guy Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 Not a local, but film cooperatives tend to keep equipment for ages. There has to be a non-profit art film collective in SF that has one. Sorry I can't be more specific. Good luck! Quote
Jim Feeley Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 My friend Mark suggested Digital Roots Studio on Solano Ave across from Flowerland (Phil and I live fairly close to each other). Looks like the focus on transferring home movies/media, but they handle Hi8 and might be good enough. https://www.digitalrootsstudio.com Another friend, who works at SFGovTV, thinks he/they can help. He's back in town next week and will follow up... HTH! Quote
