This is MacOS only. Has anyone tried it since May?   The old Boomcorder and Metacorder are still in occasional use here and there I hear.  In this same vein has anyone used another app that can handle timecode from an audio input: VB-Audio
MT64-Standard is offering all functions to record and playback 64 audio tracks
OS: Windows 10/11 ONLY, fixed price license $125.00
MT128-PRO Version.
MT128 is a 128 tracks recorder/player OS: Windows 10 only
The MT64/MT128 supports various Timecode sources: MTC, LTC (RME TCO), or native LTC from an audio input.

Yes, WildTrax is MacOS only. It is not designed to replace Pro Tools or a full DAW, but instead offers a modern alternative to software recorders of the past with a focus on production workflows and metadata handling. It allows users to customize their both the UI and their audio files.

It handles LTC directly through an audio input, no special interfaces required. All metadata including Scene, Take, and Comments is baked directly into the wav files, and sound reports are generated automatically. You can increment takes with a single keystroke, add timecoded comments during the recording, and customize your sound report templates to fit different productions.

There have been several updates since May, including improved channel support, metadata editing, UI enhancements, and performance tuning. The free demo mode allows for 2-channel recording so you can try it out without signing up for a subscription.

MT64 and MT128 on Windows are powerful and offer a lot of channels, but they are geared more toward broadcast and live environments. If your workflow is more aligned with location sound for film, TV, or unscripted production, WildTrax would be a better fit.

Happy to answer any other questions about it.

Metacorder is history.  Boom Recorder more or less is too.  Gonna try this for the reasons given: a simple reliable MT location recorder for Mac.

Boom Recorder is still alive, I'm using it and works like a charm in M processors.

In other hand I'll never buy a subscription product

Best Regards

WildTrax 2026 is out now.

This version adds a lot of new tools that many of you will appreciate, whether you already use WildTrax or are just curious about where it is heading. A few of the major additions:

Toolkit A new suite of utilities that works with audio files from any recorder, not just WildTrax. It can analyze, repair, and batch process files for metadata accuracy, timecode drift, and file organization. Think of it as a Swiss Army knife for post prep and troubleshooting.
Project Files Save and reload your complete WildTrax configuration in one step, making it easier to move between shows or setups.
Sample Pad Panel Trigger custom sounds or cues directly inside the app.
Playlist Panel Organize and replay takes quickly for playback or review.
Global Live Monitoring Listen to any incoming track with full Mute, Solo, and Panning control.
Playback from the Sound Report Panel Instantly play any recorded file directly from the report view.
MP3 Creation Export lightweight reference mixes straight from your sessions.
Sound Report Enhancements Edit frame rate, timecode, and metadata directly within the report.
Tentacle Sync Integration WildTrax automatically detects Tentacle devices and syncs immediately with their timecode.
Improved Sync Handling MIDI Timecode response is faster and more reliable.
Flexible Licensing Options Free two track recording for everyone. Monthly and annual subscriptions are available, along with lifetime license purchases for those who prefer to own their version outright.

WildTrax is free to download for any Mac user. You can explore the entire platform, utilize the Toolkit, record two tracks, and see how it fits into your workflow.

WildTrax 2026 represents our ongoing commitment to meaningful annual upgrades that actually move the platform forward. Each release is built from real user feedback and the challenges we all face in the field. My goal has always been to build a recorder that grows with the industry and with the people who rely on it every day.

This release continues what we set out to build from the start, a recorder made for how we actually work, with the tools we actually need.

You can download it at wildtrax.io.
