Giuseppe Vitellaro Posted May 11, 2025 Report Posted May 11, 2025 https://www.haltertechnical.com/wildtrax-features.html Mac recording software designed for production sound. $30/month for 32 tracks. Quote
PCMsoundie Posted July 14, 2025 Report Posted July 14, 2025 This is MacOS only. Has anyone tried it since May? The old Boomcorder and Metacorder are still in occasional use here and there I hear. In this same vein has anyone used another app that can handle timecode from an audio input: VB-Audio MT64-Standard is offering all functions to record and playback 64 audio tracks OS: Windows 10/11 ONLY, fixed price license $125.00 MT128-PRO Version. MT128 is a 128 tracks recorder/player OS: Windows 10 only The MT64/MT128 supports various Timecode sources: MTC, LTC (RME TCO), or native LTC from an audio input. Quote
Doc Justice Posted July 17, 2025 Report Posted July 17, 2025 Yes, WildTrax is MacOS only. It is not designed to replace Pro Tools or a full DAW, but instead offers a modern alternative to software recorders of the past with a focus on production workflows and metadata handling. It allows users to customize their both the UI and their audio files. It handles LTC directly through an audio input, no special interfaces required. All metadata including Scene, Take, and Comments is baked directly into the wav files, and sound reports are generated automatically. You can increment takes with a single keystroke, add timecoded comments during the recording, and customize your sound report templates to fit different productions. There have been several updates since May, including improved channel support, metadata editing, UI enhancements, and performance tuning. The free demo mode allows for 2-channel recording so you can try it out without signing up for a subscription. MT64 and MT128 on Windows are powerful and offer a lot of channels, but they are geared more toward broadcast and live environments. If your workflow is more aligned with location sound for film, TV, or unscripted production, WildTrax would be a better fit. Happy to answer any other questions about it. Quote
Philip Perkins Posted July 18, 2025 Report Posted July 18, 2025 Metacorder is history. Boom Recorder more or less is too. Gonna try this for the reasons given: a simple reliable MT location recorder for Mac. Quote

Doc Justice Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 For those that haven't been following along closely, you may be surprised to see how much WildTrax has grown and evolved since its release in May of 2025. Version 1.0 started as a focused recording engine built specifically for production sound. It handled multitrack recording, metadata, and routing in a way that made sense for set work rather than music recording or post production workflows. Over the past year that foundation has grown into WildTrax 2026. The platform now includes much deeper control over files, metadata, routing, monitoring, and system visibility, all shaped by real world use on set. We added monitoring and playback features too. You can playback any recorded take and route the audio to any channel on any device. The Sample Pad allows instant playback of selected files directly from the interface, which is useful for quick references, cue playback, or reviewing moments with the team. Playlist adds a more structured playback system, letting users build sequences of audio for controlled playback when needed during production. The Toolkit has become another powerful addition. Split up poly files. Combine mono ones. Edit the metadata of files recorded on other recorders. It's feature rich. WildTrax also integrates with modern timecode workflows. It supports MIDI Timecode and LTC. WildTrax even works seamlessly with Tentacle Sync's wireless network, allowing it to fit into a wide range of production environments without forcing mixers to change the tools they already rely on. Another major milestone was the release of the WildTrax A2 companion app for iPhone and iPad. The app connects over wifi and lets users view meters, timecode, and metadata from anywhere on set. Permissions can be controlled per device so collaborators can either observe the session or actively add metadata from their own device. In the past year WildTrax has been used on feature films, television productions, comedy specials, podcasts, and many other types of projects. It has been encouraging to see it move from an early release into a tool that mixers are relying on in real production environments. WildTrax continues to grow because it is built specifically for us, and that has allowed it to introduce capabilities that traditional recorders simply do not offer. Halter Technical is fully committed to the long term growth of WildTrax. It is an ongoing platform that we intend to improve year after year. Development is driven by real production experience, direct feedback from working mixers, and a clear goal to keep pushing the boundaries of what a production recording system can do. The WildTrax Users Group on Facebook is a dedicated place where people can see how others are utilizing WildTrax in their own workflows. As the platform grows, our focus remains the same, continue adding meaningful tools, expand capabilities that do not exist elsewhere, and build a recorder that evolves alongside the people who rely on it every day. If you have not looked at it recently, you can download WildTrax for free and try it for yourself. https://wildtrax.io Quote
Doc Justice Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 WildTrax 2026.6.0 (macOS) and WildTrax A2 (iOS/iPadOS) are now LIVE This is a meaningful update that continues to push WildTrax deeper into real production workflows, especially when it comes to timecode, reliability, and ecosystem integration. Ambient LockitBT support This is a big one. WildTrax now integrates directly with Ambient LockitBT devices over Bluetooth. That means fast, reliable timecode sync without extra cabling. Ambient has built an incredibly solid ecosystem with ACN, and their LockitBT boxes are a perfect match for what WildTrax is doing. This collaboration allows you to move quickly on set while maintaining rock solid sync. We are proud to be working alongside a company that has set the bar for timecode reliability for years. Free Run on Disconnect If you lose connection to Ambient, Tentacle, external LTC, or MIDI timecode, WildTrax will continue running seamlessly. No interruptions, no surprises. Improvements Show Main Window added to the Window menu for faster navigation Expanded track number token support with proper zero padding {track#} gives you 1 {track###} gives you 001 {####} gives you 0001 Bug fixes Resolved an issue where the input matrix could freeze when toggling off on a diagonal WildTrax A2 1.1 New features Panel Manager Build and organize your layouts exactly how you want them. This is a major step toward fully customizable remote workflows. Spectrum Analyzer Now available in A2 to match the main app and give you better visibility from anywhere on set.
