Recommendations for isolated headphone for high-noise locations? (ie- Remote HN-7506 and others?)

There are six or so DT 770 variations. The 770 M are modified for FOH, drummers, and the like. No idea if they're still being made, or if there's just a lot of stock in the channel. Don't know what will happen with their sale to Cosonic (whom I hadn't heard of before).

I used the 770Ms and the 797 headset version for many years. Honestly, I find the claim of some ~30dB of external attenuation to be very dubious. I don’t think they offer a whole lot more than any over the ear, closed back headphones!

I moved from them to the Remote Audio headset. They are brighter, but the isolation is worlds better. I can comfortably mix with them at low levels even in football commentary boxes that have measured 102dB SPL due to a front open window and loud crowd and PA system.

I can’t really comment on the Remote Audio longevity yet, but the moving parts feel much better made to me. The yokes on the Beyers only use friction to stay put, and they wear out and get loose rather quickly. Whatever isolation they provide quickly fades as they become looser. The remotes on tue other hand tighten together with thumbscrews.
The cable on my 797 has also dried out and started cracking, and I can’t seem to source a spare part replacement anywhere. The mic sounds very clear and open… but the big plastic basket on it is also way more fragile than the Remote mic.

I'm honestly not sure I would ever go back to Beyers, all things considered. Like anything though, YMMV. The shape of the Beyers I don’t find very comfortable when hanging them around my neck.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Sennheiser HD 280 pros.  I think they block out about as much as the muff ear protectors.  I think they're very comfortable too.
