Sound Posted July 11, 2025 Report Posted July 11, 2025 Hi everyone, I have a set of seven Sony UTX-B03 bodypack transmitters from the UWP-D series, and three of them have developed an intermittent connection at the minijack input (the classic "wiggle" issue). The audio cuts in and out when the cable moves, so I suspect the 3.5mm locking TRS connector needs to be repaired or replaced. Has anyone here already fixed this problem? How did you repair it? Were you able to find a genuine or compatible replacement minijack connector? Any tips on sourcing the spare part or advice on the repair process? Since multiple transmitters are affected, I’m especially interested in reliable sources for several connectors. I’d really appreciate any experiences, part numbers, or supplier recommendations. As for the Switchcraft connectors, there are several variants: Now, which Switchcraft reference did you order? I think the only one that makes sense is 35RAPC2BVN4 (stereo, three pins, no switching function) Quote
Sound Posted July 31, 2025 Author Report Posted July 31, 2025 I ordered 35RAPC3BVN4. But I got a totally different part. It has much more pins and not screw lock connector - see image attached. If I look at the data sheet of 35RAPC2BVN4 - the one you recommended, I think it has no screw lock as well, does it? The images on the product page always show a screw lock but "Images are for reference only See Product Specifications" - and there's no mention of a screw lock in the product details. I found out that the Sennheiser lock could be exactly the same, and its quite a bit cheaper than sony: https://spares.sennheiser.com/de-de/catalog/sparepart/573606 its about 8 euros compared to about 20 euros from sony. So maybe this part is the safer bet? Quote

Next time my cheap Sony lavs die I think I will rewire the input to sennheiser and use other mics. Guess I just have to swap the orange and red wire to do so? Quote
