osa Posted July 20, 2025 Report Posted July 20, 2025 Just got my Nova back from repairs which also included fw upgrade. Now have a message - MRXs might not work properly with older firmware. i cant call tech support until thursday. Has anyone here had experience? I tried following the instructions but no luck getting the nova side to grab the update for the mrx’s: - zmt trx v4.xx set to mono - mrx v2.48 loaded on zmt micro sd - mrx set to same channel as zmt (although hd96 n stereo/xr only options?) - qrx update under settings set to “waiting” but process stops there Quote
RadoStefanov Posted July 21, 2025 Report Posted July 21, 2025 USE MONO I dont have ZMT and had no problem with TRX! Make sure it connects. Don’t be too close! Format the card!!!! Quote
osa Posted July 21, 2025 Author Report Posted July 21, 2025 Trx AND too close ! Thanks Rado it worked this time, updating now during downtime. Zmt might have worked? Trx is 25’ away and confirming for others - stereo/xr is the setting for mono tx Quote
osa Posted July 21, 2025 Author Report Posted July 21, 2025 If anyone out there is like me and sticks with what works refusing to upgrade unless forced to - upgrading a Nova and MRX’s to the current version is well worth it. I have a very low serial version 1 Nova bought immediately when they first came out. Yes you do lose EVERY single setting but a good tip someone gave me is to make a video on your phone going thru every single menu possible. currently I have 2x MRX’s installed, 1st one left on old firmware and 2nd one updated to latest firmware - but both MRX’s set to same freqs I am currently working with to compare performance of both in real time. positive change in clean reception! Hard to tell by photo below exactly - but freq 517.6 on 1st MRX is dancing around 75%-100% pretty typical in previous experience in this location. Freq 517.6 on 2nd MRX is rock solid 100% not a peep below it. I am anxious now to see how this new setup performs on the run or harsh rf environments or upside down zmt’s which have caused trouble in the past. Nick told me I would love this upgrade (plus a repair i needed and some other hardware updates) - it feels like a whole new “one unit” Yes rebuilding all the menus is a pain, but well worth it. I recommend a full day of setup and not trying to cram it in late night before an early morning job the next day. Even following my own advice, I was discovering settings that I missed. “Oh crap the wrong folder is mirroring” stuff like that. I mean EVERYTHING is reset like you just cracked it outta the box. Th only thing missing is the new mixer smell Quote
