Anyone using a single rack mount video monitor with multiple inputs (picture by picture, quad picture, etc)?

Thinking about something bigger than my dual 7" rack monitors for my aging eyes. Wondering about using a larger single monitor:

 - could use the entire larger screen for single camera setups

 - can display multiple cameras side by side, or in a quad display (though that doesn't come up often)

Yes, this is the way. Use any monitor you want with a multiview converter at the village for a quad split image to your cart on a single coax cable. Decimator makes some multiviewers as does black magic. Probably AJA.

I swapped out my old black magic smart view duo for a Lilliput Q 18 and it changed my life. Has 4 sdi inputs and 1 hdmi. You can multi view them anyway you want. Couldn’t recommend it more.

it does take about 6.5 rack spaces though

Just to clarify, I’m suggesting a monitor and separate multiview converter. That way you can buy any monitor you want with a single SDI input and you put the multiview converter on the village end that way you only have to run a single BNC back to your cart. You could even buy any cheap TV or computer monitor and add an SDI to HDMI converter though I don’t recommend that.

On my show we take this approach a step further and add an Accsoon wireless system to get rid of the cable altogether. Still need the multiview converter at village though.

I put a deciminator quad on my cart years ago.  Converts SDI to HDMI-.  Use a cheap usb powered HDMI monitor.  Works great-- I do not miss having a more expensive "pro " monitor anymore.   It s big enough and bright enough with some minor shading..  And I have a cheap spare ready to go incase it fails.  Cheap..

Just here to say THANKS for this. I took this route and now have no idea why I was lugging around "Pro" DP capable monitors for what we need picture for on a cart. Game changer.
