JonG Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 I’ve seen some impressive builds for charging stations in Pelican cases, and I’m looking for inspiration for my own. Would anybody care to share theirs? Please feel free to show not just photos of the station, but maybe how it was built, materials, etc. Quote
henrimic Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 Here's mine. It's a fairly simple model made of wood and Velcro. The bottom part contains the power supplies and the chargers are on top. The top tray is simply attached with Velcro so that I can easily open the box if I need to replace a power supply, for example. Quote
The Documentary Sound Guy Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 That's more or less what mine looks like, except I carved space for the DC bricks & power bard into the pick 'n' pull that came with the pelican. Nicer for appearance, probably worse for venting heat. I'm mildly worried that I'm shortening the life of the DC bricks by essentially storing them in insulation. It's held up so far. Raw materials are a Pelican 1450 Hard Case & an RV plug off Amazon (this one? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08GLCXSBQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1) It's a bit of a pain to take it apart, so no photos of the bottom ... you'll have to imagine it. But, like I said, it's carved into the pick 'n' pull. Took an afternoon. Quote
henrimic Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 Funny enough, I had done exactly the same thing with the foam, but I also found that the power supplies were heating up quite a bit. That's why I ultimately switched to this solution. Still not perfect but it’s a never ending work in progress Quote
fieldsound Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 I built a pretty basic charging case out of a pelican and some wooden slats. It’s great for heavier jobs, travel and walkaways. Here’s a video I made about the project awhile back and some of my thoughts. Quote
JonG Posted August 30 Author Report Posted August 30 These are great. Also interested in what’s under the hood. Just looking for inspiration and ideas on which products to use to streamline the organization. Thanks! Quote
Matthias Richter Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 2x ISDT 24xAA/AAA Audioroot 4x smart 2x Joppe NP50 6x USB the big charger is in here during transpo. When charging the airflow area is not covered to prevent overheating the power stuff underneath Quote
JonG Posted September 7 Author Report Posted September 7 @henrimic what smart charger are you using? Quote
henrimic Posted September 7 Report Posted September 7 That's the Betso SB-Charger. https://www.betso.eu/sb-charger Really happy with it as you can charge from any USB-C source, like in a car for example. Quote
snavarrod Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 Nice Builds!! great to see many ideas. just finished mine just before a travel gig in latin America. Have all the chargers I need, including a power plug that would save me different travel outlet adaptors for my basic electronics. All the wiring is hidden. Long hour days you just want to relax and do nothing after you are done. cheers Sebastian Quote
Fred Salles Posted October 4 Report Posted October 4 Just a side note: I found it a good idea to always carry a smoke detector in my charging case. I glued a magnet on mine to fix it quickly above the charging stations. it makes me sleep better 😅 Quote
