RadoStefanov Posted September 20, 2025 Report Posted September 20, 2025 I think we are overdue for a new battery system and integration. I am working on something cool. Bag only. carts are easy. Quote
OB1 Posted September 20, 2025 Report Posted September 20, 2025 Custom 18650 cell packs are easy to build if you have that level of skill and tools. I've done it for countless other reasons outside of this line of work and was thinking of something for my mobile cart/bag rig. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Quote
Derek H Posted September 21, 2025 Report Posted September 21, 2025 Rado, will you be revealing this along with your new sound cart concept? Quote
RadoStefanov Posted September 21, 2025 Author Report Posted September 21, 2025 My concept is done and build. Just have not had the time to put panels on the drawers. After the 2nd of October I have a few days off and will finish it. Quote
LDstudios Posted September 22, 2025 Report Posted September 22, 2025 Eh? Eh? Eh? I can’t remember the name of the specific battery (Duracell HT60?), but this was my garage mad-scientist wizardry (stupidity?) to get an old EMI tube ENG reel to reel machine up and running. Must have been from the late 50s or 60s. It certainly pre-dated the Nagra. It used a pair of 67.5v batteries to get the plate voltage up to ~130volts. Quote
locaudio Posted September 25, 2025 Report Posted September 25, 2025 I am not a Sonosax user, but I think the design of their recorder in terms of power is great. A built in slot for a smart battery, a hirose input, and a hirose output, so the unit itself acts as your BDS with backup/hot swap capabilities. I guess it's the same as using an SL-2 with a SD. Looking forward to seeing what you are cooking up Rado! Quote
Patrick Tresch Posted September 25, 2025 Report Posted September 25, 2025 I think the point of view of Sonosax is also that externalizing the power managment to 3rd party/user could be a hickup for the sound quality. Therefore they prefer to have it within the machine to manage this part. Quote

Internal or external. I do Love internal batteries and designed my OneUnit with one. Quote
