johnpaul215
So I was watching the behind the scenes stuff on the latest Resident Evil film and saw this....... I realized it is customized for the film, but all the metadata and everything is great. Is this the Denecke/Zaxnet slate? I don't recall ever seeing any pictures of it. hemmerlinj
What the real question is how are you interested enough in a resident Evil movie to want to watch the behind the scenes? Sorry, couldn't help myself. That is cool how all the metadata is displayed. The display itself looks like it's of an older design though. Maybe it's just the way it looks though. johnpaul215
One of my friends always watches the bonus stuff. As a side note, *most* of those DVDs specifically printed for Netflix have the bonus features stripped. As for the slate, it's interesting. The black sticks are weird, but may be part of the design for the film.
dfisk
As a side note, *most* of those DVDs specifically printed for Netflix have the bonus features stripped. I've been noticing this lately, and it's frustrating. I really like to watch the bonus stuff on DVD's.
RPSharman
I've been noticing this lately, and it's frustrating. I really like to watch the bonus stuff on DVD's. Not just Netflix. If people like the move and want to see the extras, then they have to buy the DVD.
Glen Trew
I'm going to guess that's the slate Thomas Hayek mentioned not too long ago. Seems like it was from Czech, maybe?
aristotle_kumpis
The frame rate says 50 FPS?! Is that an actual frame rate for cameras? I've heard of 60 FPS, but never 50.
johnpaul215
i guess you was born later then 1990 ;-) , before that it was quit common and still now in 95% of the world you made my day ;-) Is it common for feature films? I've done it for TV that was being done by a British production company, but we mixed sound straight to camera. Not sure I ever worked with 50FPS with anything where I recorded sound on my deck (and would adjust the frame rate accordingly). I've never done a 3-D shoot. Do they shoot at the same frame rates? Also, this film had a lot of slow motion stuff. Not sure if that matters. For an American/Canadian film, it is interesting that they are shooting 50fps. aristotle_kumpis
Oleg, I was born in 1978. But I still am not familiar with 50FPS.
jt
The slate is a custom job by Pace as part of their 3d camera system.
Michael
As Oleg says 50FPS is common in PAL land. The show I have been day playing boom swinger on commonly ramps from 25 to 50 during shots, or B camera shooting 50 throughout.
bcopenhagen
The slate is a custom job by Pace as part of their 3d camera system. Yep. Interestingly, when shooting with that system, the burden of timecode master no longer falls on the sound mixer.
Glen Trew
The slate is a custom job by Pace as part of their 3d camera system. That was going to be my second guess. gt
Philip Perkins
SO....why black sticks? No white stripes? Much harder to see for sync, maybe they don't care? phil p

Simon Paine
it looks like the Slate you can see on the behind the scenes footage of Tron. But I thought I heard that one was a Sony pre-production model slate.
