dela Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 I have a Sela 2880-BT that has been modified to have a stereo output, but I don't know if it is a factory modification (turning the 2880-BT into a proper 2880-BTS), or if it is just something that somebody came up with. If you could post a photo of the two sides of your 2880-BTS, I can check if the Tuchel connector that has been added on mine, is standard for the 2880-BTS. In that case I can check the pin configuration and post it here. One thing to look out for is that on my stereo version the output is unbalanced, high impedance with a 100 kOhms series resistor. This was made to accommodate the Nagra IV-S input that was current driven, not the usual voltage driven input. If you want to use the 2880-BTS to anything else than a Nagra, I would advise you to remove the series resistors on the output. That will give a better sound quality on a "normal" high impedance input. https://www.filmsoundsweden.se/backspegel/start2.html The link here Is a link to a very fine swedish website with a lot of info on historical stuff. You probably can't read swedish, but if you look for the 2880 articles, there are some schematics for the different versions. Quote
The Immoral Mr Teas Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 filmsoundsweden Cheers Dela, what a fascinating site to browse through and I've already found some interesting vintage stuff there in English: NAGRA RECORDER Quote
Olle Sjostrom Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 If anyone needs a translation that’s not Ai, hit me up. Otherwise I think at least Google does a half decent job Quote
dela Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 I just dug out the SELA and I checked the internal cabling on it; it seems that it should be modified to being a standard 2880-BTS. The connectors on the right side are for a mono Nagra (with two line out Tuchel connectors in parallel). On the left side (on mine at least) there is a single Tuchel connector for connecting to a Nagra IV-S. The mixer line out connector has the same corresponding pin configuration as the line in connector on the IV-S: Pin 1: Ch. 1 out Pin 2: -10 V supply voltage (Observe that it need a supply voltage negative with respect to ground) Pin 3: Ch. 2 out Pin 7: Ground I bought it some years ago, but I never got around to actually testing it at the time. So now I have checked it, and it works fine and with quite low noise. I got it with cable for both mono recorders and the IV-S (there are two different cables). Quote
