Hi! I have been going down the rabbit hole of options to supply power to my soundcart. It is not a power hungry cart, an 833 bag with 4 lectro RXs, rf distro, comtek TX. The other item I power are my monitors.

I have been looking at power solutions like a remote audio lifebox 20c + hot box, and have also been considering a compact Ecoflow to put on the cart (as I have been seeing more ppl on set run them, and hear of more sound mixers running them).

I am curious what people’s opinions are on each options. The Ecoflow route is much cheaper, but perhaps doesn’t have as many purpose built outputs, and would require power supplies for each device. The lifebox 20c and Ecoflow river 3 both come in at around 250Wh so I’m assuming similar runtimes.

Up till this point I have just been hot swapping smart batteries with my PSC triple play, and would intent to use the 3rd power input in the triple play to get house power.

Are there any pros/cons to either of these routes I should be thinking about for cart power?

Curious to hear people’s thoughts..

The Ecoflow/jackery style batteries are great quick solutions and backups but I wouldn’t use it for much more than that. Aside from the main issue of everything having to convert to AC - as the main power distro they’re just not as rugged as a purpose built battery in a pelican. Definitely far from weather proof, cheap battery management systems (I’ve had 2 Bluetti’s just randomly brick on me), and bad customer service compared to a reputable audio company that would help you out if anything went wrong.

But as a backup or to charge batteries or extend my cart life knowing I’ll be away from power all day. Great!

Agree with @SYSOUNDS on all points. My system on a typical shoot comprises of a couple of IDX NP-9X and a PSC LiFE Pelican. I rarely run down to fumes. I have an OG Ecoflow Delta that I originally bought for car camping (sorry, not not calling that 'overlanding') that I may bring on a whim but I feel like it's more my own emotional support animal.

i’ve been using an audio root and psc battery for years. very solid, hasn’t let me down. i think the audio root is 576whrs and the psc is half that and i have it to extend battery life if need be. they also have a pelicase with swappable smart batteries if you already have e a stash of those…..

agreed on eco flow to keep main batts charged
