Loon coiled boom with and wo wing

Curious if anyone here might know - the base for a cabled Loon pole, is it a specific piece that the xlr connector on the coil attaches to, similar to the wing xlr attachment, or does the connector itself lock to the rubber stopper at the bottom of the pole? I am going to recable my Loon and considering bypassing the wing for less points of failure

Hey Ken, the connector is on the wing. The rubber stopper has no metal parts, it’s just glued onto the wing. 
 

However a PSC boom pole bottom will screw in place. I’ve seen the right angle pole bottoms used on Loons.

Thanks Jon this makes perfect sense now that I look at it. Psc works as a top spud replacement so this is great to know.
