Frederic Le Louet Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 Hi everyone, I’m Frédéric Le Louët, a film sound designer and the developer of VoxSplit Pro at Limited Edition Audio. VoxSplit Pro separates two overlapping voices from one recording and helps reduce background noise and other non-dialogue sounds. One practical use is preparing ADR for one actor while retaining the other actor’s overlapping performance. Results depend on the recording. Available for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, with AAX AudioSuite for Pro Tools, VST3 and a standalone application. Audio processing runs locally; VST3 and standalone use file import/export. A 7-day trial is available with PACE iLok. Demos and product information: https://limitededitionaudio.com/ Frédéric Quote
Derek H Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 Looks great! I watched your walkthrough. What happens to the background sound? You show many examples where two voices get split out but neither has any background ambience at all after processing. Ideally it would also split out the BG sounds onto separate tracks. Likewise with things like footsteps, car horns, kitchen clatter, any specific diegetic BG sound. Is this utility limited to splitting two voices at a time? What if you have more than two voices overlapping? Quote
Frederic Le Louet Posted September 22 Author Report Posted September 22 Hi, Thanks for watching the walkthrough, these are good questions. VoxSplit Pro currently produces two dialogue-focused outputs, Voice 1 and Voice 2. Background ambience and effects may be attenuated during processing, but they are not exported as a separate background or effects track. It also cannot isolate individual sounds such as footsteps, horns or kitchen clatter. The original recording remains available in your session for the usual sound editorial work. It is designed for two overlapping speakers. If three or more people speak simultaneously, it cannot reliably produce a separate track for each person. I’d rather be clear about that model limitation than suggest otherwise. Its main purpose is to recover an individual performance from a two-person overlap so that one line can be edited or replaced while the other is retained. If you have a representative scene, the 7-day trial is the best way to judge whether it helps in your workflow. I’d be glad to hear what you find. Best regards, Frédéric Quote
